Vegan & GF Hazelnut Chocolate Slice

Hazelnut Slice

Moist, chewy, chocolate slice of heaven. Did we mention it’s vegan and gluten free too! The ultimate go to choc slice…with the added bonus of our Hot Choc Moon Mylk. Reap the benefits from a functional blend of unique herbs, vitamins and minerals designed to relax your mind and body, and have a calming effect on the nervous system. Such a handy sweet treat to have in the freezer for when those 7pm cravings kick in. Thanking our NH girl @geneschesser for this guiltless pleasure.

 

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Base:


Filling:


Top layer:

  • 1 cup vegan dark chocolate 
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts


HERE'S HOW TO MAKE IT:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius. 
  2. Using a baking tray, place all the hazelnuts on and distribute evenly. 
  3. Place in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Once roasted, use a tea towel to rub the skins of the hazelnuts off. Set aside. 
  4. Line a loaf/brownie tin and set aside. 
  5. Using a food processor, blend the oats until it forms a powder. Then pulse in the dates until it's a course meal. Add in the remaining base ingredients and blend until combined. 
  6. Empty the mixture into the lined loaf pan, and use your hands to pack the mixture down firmly. Use the back of a spoon to smooth out the mixture (if desired). Transfer to the freezer while you prepare the remaining layers.
  7. Using a medium bowl, combine all the filling ingredients (except the hazelnuts)
  8. Once combined and smooth, fold through the hazelnuts. 
  9. Pour on top of the frozen base layer and set in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. 
  10. Once 5 minutes are left of cooling, melt the chocolate with the coconut oil. 
  11. Pour the chocolate as evenly as possible over the other layers and sprinkle remaining hazelnuts on top. 
  12. Set in the fridge for another 10 minutes, or until chocolate is set. 
Slice into desired shapes and enjoy!
