Vegan Twix Bars
These Twix Bars by @clean_treats are a vegan lover's dream come true! A delicious vanilla shortbread base, gooey caramel centre and chocolate finish will please even your non-vegan friends and fam come dessert time!
This recipe is raw, vegan, gluten free and refined sugar free.
What you'll need:
- 40g almond meal
- 40g desiccated coconut
- 80g Naked Harvest THRIVE Vanilla Shortbread Plant Protein
- 2 tbs maple syrup
- 2 tbs coconut oil
- 1/4 cup almond butter (or cashew butter)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Pinch of salt
- 100g chocolate
- 1 tbs coconut oil
Here's how to make it:
In a bowl mix together your shortbread ingredients. Press the dough into a lined 8x8 in baking tin to make the base.
In a small pot melt the caramel ingredients on a medium to low heat for about 3 minutes. Continue to stir while everything melts so it doesn’t burn.
Allow the caramel to cool slightly then pour over the top of the base.
Refrigerate for about 30 minutes until the caramel has set.
Melt the chocolate with the coconut oil until smooth then pour the chocolate over the top of the caramel, spread with the back of a spoon then refrigerate for 30-60 minutes until chocolate has set.
